Welcome

Troop 144 of Pompton Plains, New Jersey encourages Scouts to live by the Scout Oath and Law. Our Troop enjoys a multitude of activities planned by our youth and adult leaders. Recent activities include monthly camping trips, weekly meetings, and a week long summer camp. Some highlights of our camping trips include overnight trips to the Battleship Massachusetts, the Freedom Trail in Boston, Washington D.C., Gettysburg, and Philadelphia. Troop 144 is also committed to its community. Our recent scouting for food drive collected a few hundred bags of food for our local food pantry. Additionally, we annually clean up trails at local parks. We are always looking for ways to help in our community. If you have a need, or suggestion, please feel free to contact us.

Introduction to Scout Leadership Training, April 15th (for Scouts not working on Pets MB)

Posted by leader on Mar 24 2024 - 7:43pm

For any Scout (not working on Pets MB) who is First Class rank or higher and has a position of responsibility (POR), or anticipates obtaining a POR by this date, we will be offering a leadership / team-building course known as Introduction to Scout Leadership Training. Interested leaders will help moderate the course, but it will primarily be run by older scouts who have previously completed ISLT and / or NYLT.  BSA National produces a curriculum which we will follow but the course is taught at the Unit level. It is an excellent opportunity for scouts to gain leadership / team building skills. Many scouts who complete this course go on to participate in National Youth Leadership Training which is taught at the Council level. A scout(s) who complete this course will receive a "trained" patch which may be worn on his uniform in addition to his POR patch. His completion of this course will be entered on his advancement record with Council.
